Fall Meeting –
September 23, 2004
Austin Preparatory School
Reading, MA
- Refreshments
were served.
- Roll
Call: 23 schools present
- Minutes
from Spring ‘04 meeting distributed and approved.
- Treasurer’s
report from Kelly McCormack:
$3073.92 in treasury, which is stable over the past two years. Approved.
- Tabulator’s
report: Bob Velevis
not available. Tony requested all
names be typed or printed clearly, last name first. Bob will retire as tabulator at the end of
this year. Anyone interested in the
position should contact Bob to learn the job. Also, all names of students should be
written the exact same way for each meet to avoid confusion.
- Test-Writer’s
report given by Vaag Mosca
for Kent Findell (not available): Kent attempts to make the 1st
questions easy, the 2nd questions more difficult, and 3rd
question “a stitch.” Kent will
be visiting various clusters during the meets to get a sense of how things
work and how the test questions are approached in different clusters. Examples of counting problems were
distributed for meet 5, category 4: combinations/probability.
- Division
changes due to four schools dropping and 2 new schools joining.
- Proposal: Move cluster meetings to 1st
on agenda next year. After discussion,
it was decided that cluster meetings will take place each year at 4:30 PM,
moving any remaining agenda items to the end of the meeting, after
cluster meetings are done. Also,
any serious issues which may need to be discussed should be brought
up in the Spring meetings, not the Fall meetings
from now on.
- Geographic
clusters were distributed. Brookline was added
to cluster 2, Weston to cluster 3.
Cluster 1 and Cluster 10 were combined. Cluster 1 may be revamped for next year.
- We
adjourned to cluster meetings at 4:24 PM.
