Fall Meeting – September 21, 2006

Austin Preparatory School

Reading, MA

  1. Refreshments were served.
  2. Roll Call:  29 schools present, 36 coaches
  3. Minutes from Spring ‘06 meeting distributed and approved with two minor changes.
  4. Tony explained how new schools are placed into divisions after two meets.
  5. Treasurer’s report from Kelly McCormack:  $3,102.43 in treasury.  Dues have been increased to $200.  Approved.
  6. Tabulator’s report by Scott Govoni:  Scott asks all coaches to submit an excel spreadsheet with all the students who might be regulars at some point during the year.  Scott asks that coaches either type or print clearly the names of the students on the roster sheets at the meets.  Scott’s email was given out to coaches.

  1. Webmaster report by Kip Bryan:  Site has email and other contact info.  Private area has the old meets and needs a password to access.  Coaches should contact one of the officers for the username and password.  Kent’s tryouts from last year are also available.  He said that Kent and Vaag have shared their “packet” strategy to help students prepare for competitions.  Kip tried it and his team’s scores improved.
  2. Test-Writer’s report by Kent Findell:  Questions for meet one have already been written.  There is a new test checker.  He attended Math Counts Nationals.  He is excellent in math but can also write the solutions very well.  Kent has added to the “private” area of the web site and is offering space for all coaches to share their best test-prep materials with other coaches.
  3. Geographic clusters were distributed and cluster meetings took place.  Clusters one and two are large due to fears Tony has about teams that do not yet have coaches.  If all the teams find coaches, the two clusters may combine and split themselves into three smaller clusters.

Respectfully submitted,
